From the fall quarter of Remixing Little Brother, I have learned a lot about writing hypertexts. First off I learned what a hypertext was, and that I see and read hypertexts nearly every day. The first hypertext that I wrote, a personal hypertext, was a new experience. I had never created a website before in my life, and I had to focus on how I was writing my information to appeal to someone who was reading off a website instead of an essay. This really helped my writing speak to an audience that was large instead of just my English teacher. The next hypertext that I wrote, an analytical hypertext, required some background research. This helped me transform information that I found from my research into certain points of views, and I created arguments for certain sides from my research. Because there was a personal aspect to the research that I did, I really cared about what I was writing. The last hypertext that I created, a research hypertext, let me do research about something that I had never really paid much attention to before. I did my research hypertext on low wage cafeteria workers, and I was able to organize my research findings by using an annotated bibliography then provide an original research contribution through my review of the literature. In Remixing Little Brother I also learned to focus my reading on the way people write, and not necessarily what they are writing about. These new skills that I learned in the first quarter of Remixing Little Brother can really help me later in life if I ever need to create a website for a future job, which there is a good chance that I will need to.

When i was writing my research hypertext I found that it was difficult to write the annotated bibliography and review of the literature before my linear essay because I usually like to start writing my essays then when I think I need to include some background information I usually look it up then, and it to my bibliography. Once I was finished writing my linear essay however, I found that there was some useful information that I had left out of my first draft of my website. I was able to add some helpful information to multiple pages on my website, and it really made my website look more professional. Also after finishing my linear essay I rearranged my website to follow a more logical pattern, and ended up adding a few more pages with information that I had written in my linear essay but had left out of my website in the rough draft.
If a low wage cafeteria worker saw my website I believe that they would agree with how I described their treatment, and how large food service companies are paying their employees extremely low wages. The cafeteria worker would also be able to relate about the manipulation of unions, and how they, or someone they know has been affected by it. However I think that the cafeteria worker would be a little bit disappointed about how little there is about the personal aspect of low wage life. I think that if had done an interview with a cafeteria worker then my site would have been a little bit more personal. Along with cafeteria workers my site would also reach to the large food service corporations like Sodexo, Aramark, and Compass. It would also reach out to the Unions like UNITE HERE, and SEIU. Lastly my site would also reach out to the U.S. government, and if they saw it I believe that they consider some of the things that I have said and reevaluate what is going in the food service industry.

I wanted to be finished with my website before the end of the 9th week of fall quarter, but I ended up being extremely busy with other finals, and especially pledge work for a fraternity. I spent more time working on stuff for the fraternity than I should have and ended up waiting until the last minute to finish my website. I think for my next hypertext I will set my priorities, and am sure to work on whatever I am working a little each day so that it will be easier to complete. Also without pledge period I think I will have some extra time to focus on school, and I should see an increase in my work effort.
